IKONO CONTINGENTS DAZZLE AT ITU ZONAL UBEC/SUBEB BASIC EDUCATION SCHOOL SPORTS COMPETITION



The Itu Zonal UBEC/SUBEB Basic Education School Sports Competition, held recently at PCN School, Ibiaku, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, turned out to be a triumphant outing for students representing Ikono Local Government Area, who delivered an exceptional performance across multiple sporting categories.

With this impressive medal haul, Ikono LGA has emerged as the local government with the highest number of athletes qualifying to represent Itu Zone at the forthcoming State Finals, scheduled to take place Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th July 2025 at Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Four Towns, Uyo.


These outstanding results not only reflect the talent, discipline and dedication of the young athletes, but also reaffirm Ikono’s reputation as a stronghold of grassroots sporting excellence in Akwa Ibom State.


As the countdown to the State Finals begins, the entire Ikono community rallies behind its champions with high hopes and unwavering pride.
