A'IBOM POLICE IMPLEMENT ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY ON CRIMINALITIES, PARADE SUSPECTS

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command said it has adopted new strategies in combating evolving crimes and other criminal elements in a bid to sustain stability and peace in the state.


The  Commissioner of Police, Mr. Waheed Ayilara, revealed this Monday 22nd  July, 2024, while briefing crime reporters at the state police headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.


The command according to the CP has intelligently and  strategically engaged all strata of the society especially the grassroots, to join hands with security agencies and the government to bring crime to barest, while noting that policies have been made to provide severe penalities for certain offence, with no exception made for extenuating circumstances.


However, while disclosing positive results of the command's newly resolved strategies, the police boss, maintained that in conjunction with other sister security agencies, non - state actors and with tremendous support from the state government, kidnapping, cultism, trafficking and other criminal elements are tackled.


While giving full breakdown of the command's  operational breakthroughs, Ayilara explained that their  operatives through credible information and  painstaking undercover, nabbed a notorious kidnapper, Ubong Effiong Archibong, otherwise known as Condiment who led a kidnapping syndicate responsible for kidnapping and killing of several  persons.

The police commissioner, revealed that the  police  command operatives did recover firearms and ammunitions owned  by the kidnapping syndicate at a private mortuary being used as the armoury at Ekeya, Okobo Local Government Area.


The recovered firearms include; two AK-47 rifles, two G3 rifles, one double barrel rifle, one  single barrel rifle, five  magazines and seven live ammunitions. 


Furthermore, Ayilara also mentioned that the command has arrested one Mrs. Eunice Eze, age 56years for allegedly running a baby factory at World Bank Estate in Owerri, Imo state and rescued 10 pregnant woman.


"The suspect specialises in stealing babies and pregnant women from Akwa Ibom State through her agent, Ability Tom. She pretended to run an orphanage home, but on the other way round sells  innocent children in exchange for money," CP added.


The command, according to the police commissioner is looking forward for a more formidable collaboration from the general public, adding that policing strategies that involves relentless order maintenance and aggressive law enforcement, against even minor crimes and incivilities will be implemented more.


His words, "if  you see something, say something and the police will immediately do something."
