NURSING, MIDWIFERY COUNCIL VISIT MAURID COLLEGE OF NURSING SCIENCE FOR ACCREDITATION

Recently at Mbiaso in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, a resource assessment team from Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria visited the proposed Maurid College of Nursing Science for facility inspection and accreditation.
Addressing participants , the Chairman of Maurid Group, Dr. Godwin Umontuen, thanked God for making all things possible, extolled the visiting team for meticulously and carefully going through the process of assessment.
He noted that the idea of resource assessment was birthed to ensure that Nigeria president's agenda is attained, which according to him seeks to prevent breakdown in the healthcare sector of the country.
Dr. Umontuen, stated his optimism about the approval of the college for professional trainings, described it as a salient element to enhance and improve the heath sector in Akwa Ibom state.
In her remark, the Proprietress of the college, Mrs. Confidence Umontuen, welcomed everyone and appreciated them for finding time to participate in the assessment tour.
She acknowledged the Director and Head of Department, Inspectorate of the Nursing Council, Mr. Alhassan Ndagi, who also is the leader of team and others who accompanied him , stated how privileged they are to host the motional team of professionals in their institution.
"The proposed Maurid College of Nursing Science is set to reposition the educational trajectory in the area and state at large and as well envisages to becoming a world-class college that will adopt new ideas and adaptive to global trends and also put in use cutting - edge technology to make sure that competent, reliable and versatile professionals are produced.

According to her, it is to provide safe, acceptable and effective healthcare services in Akwa Ibom and Nigeria at large.
Mrs. Umontuen, reiterated the college's readiness to commence immediately, once given approval by the council, while disclosing that necessary structures and equipments have been made available, she promised to do better and expedite improvement in certain areas which the visiting team has shaded light on.
" I assure members of the team that we would prioritise quality trainings and teaching, in order to achieve enormous feats and as well carry ourselves in a regulated manner according to the nursing council governing standards and nursing ethics. Every other equipment will be procured," the proprietress explained.
Reacting, Alhaji Alhassan Ndagi, who is a Director and Head of Department, Inspectorate of Nursing Council, remarked that the college has all the necessary structures and equipments needed to run a school, maintained that the visit was apt to ascertain the level of preparedness by the college 's management to operate smoothly and professionally.
He said, "with the performance and equipments that we have seen, the college of nursing science, Mbiaso, is prepared and as such, good enough to take off.
Mr. Yahaya Usman Illo ( Deck officer for foreign nursing and secretary), Mrs. Tex-Jack Dokubo (Provost of the College of Nursing Science, Port Harcourt, Rivers State), Mrs. Patricia Etim (Akwa Ibom State Director of Nursing and Midwifery Council), Mrs. Kate Ufere (Provost of Maurid College of Nursing Sciences, Mbiaso), the Registrar, Dr. Tom FredFish and others joined in the assessment exercise.
