Artificial Intelligence in Security Management: A'Ibom NSCDC Upscales Capacity of Directors, Others
Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Akwa Ibom State Command, has ended a -one -day capacity building workshop for directors, managers and supervisors of Private Guards Companies (PGC), with a charge on industry players to embrace Artificial Intelligence and its tools for effective security management in diverse areas of operations.
The one- day workshop was flagged off by the State Commandant, Engr. Eluwade Eluyemi, who restated that PGCs, by its ubiquitous nature, constitute a first line of intelligence gathering.
He said the corps would harness this potential to the fullest, and in view of this, it became necessary to train management staff of PGCs to scale up their capacities to contribute effectively to national security, using AI to source and process actionable intelligence.
The training which focused on the theme: "Artificial Intelligence in Facility Protection, Intelligence Gathering: A Panacea for Effective Security Operations, Standard Communication Signs/Strategies for Swift Security Response", was delivered by Dr. Luke Adams, South- South Regional Coordinator of Nigeria Institute for Industrial Security.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Intelligence, ACP Joseph Udoh, engaged the participants on the nitty-gritty of intelligence, sharing from over three decades of experience gathered in the field with practical examples.
Participants were also exposed to the pivotal role of all forms of communication- verbal and nonverbal, with reference to how they can be maximized for swift security response by the Command PRO, SC Friday Ekerete, a member of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations.
While speaking at the event, the HOD PGC, Deputy Commandant Emmanuel Peters, charged PGCs on the benefits of entrenching professionalism in their operations, pointing out that NSCDC expects PGCs to adhere to the standards set by the corps which are geared towards making them outstanding, professional and command respect from clients, security agencies and the public at large.
The event had a total of 42 participants in attendance, including Managing Directors of PGCs, directors and managers, among others.
The highpoint of the event was the presentation of certificates to participants of Course Three of the capacity building workshop for management staff of PGCs in Akwa Ibom State.
