 THREE BILLS CLEAR FIRST READING AT A'IBOM PARLIAMENT

As the eighth Akwa Ibom State Parliament resumed plenary for its second legislative year, three bills successfully passed the first reading stage. 


The bills comprise: "A bill to establish the Akwa Ibom State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission", sponsored by member representing Eket State Constituency,  Hon. Nsidibe Akata and 15 others.


A Bill to establish and regulate the Akwa Ibom State Correctional Service, with the aim of ensuring  public safety, humane and effective management of offenders and encouraging reintegration, sponsored by member representing Ini State Constituency, Hon. Lawrence Udoide and 13 others.


A Bill to establish the Akwa Ibom State Agricultural Development Trust Fund (ADETFUND)", sponsored by Eket lawmaker, Hon. Nsidibe Akata".


The Clerk, Mrs. NsikakAbasi Orok, presented the bills during Wednesday's legislative session.


 Speaker Rt. Hon. (Elder) Udeme Otong, presiding over the session, referred the bills to the House Committee on Business, Rules, Ethics, and Privileges for further scrutiny.

AKWA IBOM POLICE ARREST TWO BURGLARY SUSPECTS,  RECOVER STOLEN GOODS By Julius Nsikak - Uyo Two suspects identified as Moses Godwill and  Abraham Udoh, in connection with a burglary incident have been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command. The arrest led to the  recovery of a substantial amount of stolen goods.  According to a press release by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the command's operatives sprang into action after receiving a tip-off from a vigilant citizen about a burglary at a residence in Okpokpong, Eket Local Government Area. "Upon receiving the information, the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, immediately dispatched a team to the scene, which led to the arrest of the two suspects.
