 A'Ibom Speaker Gives AKISIEC Thumps Up

The Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Eld), Udeme Otong, expressed satisfaction with  the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission's (AKISIEC's) efforts in conducting a peaceful local government election in Abak Local Government Area.


Responding to Journalists at Abak Itenge Primary School, Unit 001,  Ward 5, after casting his vote, Elder Otong commended AKISIEC for a transparent electoral process, describing the election as fair and free.

He acknowledged AKISIEC as an organisation in ensuring credible elections, which included holding several trainings and seminars for stakeholders to better the electoral processes and as well in calming tension, while lauding the mammoth voters for their collaboration.


According to the speaker, the enmasse turnout of voters at his polling unit is attributed to Governor Umo Eno's administration, highlighting improvements in road infrastructure and human capacity building. 


However, he expressed optimism and hope that the outcome of the election would reflect the people's wishes and as well beget a leader that will engender the true dividends of democracy to the represented people.


Furthermore, the Speaker's wife, Deaconess Margaret Udeme also casted her vote at the unit, concurred that the election was peaceful, praised AKISIEC and electorates for playing their parts responsibly.

Electorates, Party Agents and others, expressed confidence in the electoral process, said their vote would count.
