Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has categorically denied reports claiming he appointed his daughter, Mrs. Helen Obareki, as the new First Lady following his wife's passing.

Instead, he clarified that Mrs. Obareki's role is Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, a position he deemed necessary to ensure continuity of his late wife's projects, including the Golden Initiative for All (GIFA).

At the All Nations Christian Ministry International in Eket, Governor Eno explained that his decision was driven by familiarity and competence, not politics. "You don't appoint a First Lady," he emphasized, highlighting that the Office of the First Lady has specific responsibilities to the state's women.

As Coordinator, Mrs. Obareki will oversee and implement programs supporting women, the elderly, vulnerable, and less privileged. Her experience, education, and access make her ideal for this role.

Governor Eno stressed that these initiatives will continue uninterrupted during his tenure.

Mrs. Obareki's official title will be Senior Special Assistant to the Governor and Coordinator, Office of the First Lady.

This appointment brings comfort to the family and allows for seamless continuity of his wife's legacy.

Governor Eno expressed gratitude to Senator Oluremi Tinubu and the church for their condolences and encouraged all to find solace in faith.
