AKHA RECEIVES 2024 SUPPLEMENTARY BUDGET FROM GOV. ENO

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (AKHA) has formally received the 2024 Supplementary Budget from Governor Umo Eno. 


The proposed Revised Budget boasts an impressive augmented figure of N73,491,516,890, in addition to the initial approved sum of N849,970,759,990, bringing the total to N923,462,276,880.


The Executive Bill was formally read by the Clerk of the House, Mrs NsikakAbasi Orok, and received on the floor of the House during legislative session recently. 


This followed a Motion by the Member representing Ini State Constituency, Hon (Dcn) Lawrence Udoide , and seconded by his Nsit Ibom counterpart, Hon Eric Akpan.


Leading the debate on the Supplementary Budget, the Deputy Leader, Rt. Hon. Oto-Obong Bob (Nsit Ubium), emphasised that the 2024 revised financial provision is essential to support the ARISE Agenda of the State Government. 


He disclosed that the Revised Budget comprises a Recurrent Expenditure of N350,142,918,810 and a Capital Expenditure of N573,319,358,070.


The supplementary budget aims to cater for public servants, particularly in the newly created Ministry of Humanitarian Services.


 The Bill was subsequently read the second time and committed to the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation for scrutiny, with a directive to report back within one week.


Additionally, the House referred a message from the Governor regarding an adjustment to the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) to the House Committee on Economic Planning for consideration, with a directive to report back within one week. 


The House has adjourned its legislative session to Tuesday, 26 November 2024.
