A'IBOM NEW CP HOSTS JOURNALISTS, SEEKS COLLABORATION TO TACKLE INSECURITY

The briefing took place recently at the State Police Command headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia in Akwa Ibom State capital, aimed at bridging the gap between the police force and the people of Akwa Ibom and as well foster a collaborative relationship with journalists in the state.
As a trained journalist himself, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication from Bayero University, Kano State, CP Azare, who is the 34th Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State police command, feels a strong affinity with media practitioners, describing them as his "first constituency" and first group of stakeholders he has met since his assumption in office.
The police boss said that journalists are partners in the command's progress and seeks an unwavering support and robust relationship that will enable the command discharge its statutory responsibility and maintain peace and security in the state.
CP Azare said the command aims to safeguard youths from exploitation by selfish individuals, as well as maintain peace and security, while re-emphasising the importance of accurate and timely reporting, stating that collaborating with the media is crucial in achieving the command's goals.
The police commissioner assured journalists of an open-door policy, with police lines accessible to all at all times, and pledged that personnel will remain professional and respectful in their dealings with the public.
He also reiterated the command's commitment to transparency and tackling crime to the barest, urging the media to play its correlational role effectively in order to shape public opinion and promote peace and security.
The senior uniformed officer, CP Azare, authoritatively stated that Akwa Ibom must be free from all forms of crime activity.
In a notable success, the command has arrested two suspects, one Mr. Prosper Brownson and one Mr. Uduak Sunday Benson for vandalising of a transformer belonging to Sure Foundation Polytechnic located at Ikot Atai in Ukanafun Local Government Area.
The police command recovered a transformer, armoured cables and items suspected to be juju, and suspects will be charged to court soon.
