AKWA IBOM POLICE COMMAND CRACKS DOWN ON BURGLARS AND CHILD TRAFFICKERS

In a recent press briefing, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, through its Spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, has made known the command's achievements and stride to bring criminality to the barest minimum in the state. 


This move by the command led to the arrest of two burglars, identified as Moses Ndiong and Abraham Eshiet, in Eket Local Government Area.


"On 20th January 2025, at about 04:00hrs, based on credible information from a complainant that his apartment was burgled and valuable items were stolen," DSP John explained.






Discovered Items 

Operatives of the command arrested two suspects, one Moses Godwin Ndiong and Abraham Godwill Eshiet, both males from Apostolic Road in Eket LGA. 


According to the PPRO, the suspects were found with burglary tools, including cutters and pliers. Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and provided useful information which led to the recovery of the stolen items, including one 65-inch smart LG TV, one 2900 Sumec Generator, one 42-inch LG LED TV, one 32-inch LG LED TV, one set of Sony home theatre system, one Toyota Camry car with registration number KY 984 EKY, and electric cables.


Other recovered items include two CCTV cameras, a set of kitchen utensils and cutlery, one AM Cool double burner gas cooker, one 14-inch LG LED TV, one 12.5kg gas cylinder, a set of senator wear, one Samsung iPad, one 32-inch LG LED TV, one 24-inch Samsung LCD TV, three pairs of Italian shoes, and three different Wi-Fi connectors. 


Others are; one POS machine, a bag containing various new motor parts, one PAL pension gadget, two golden bracelets, one golden chain wristwatch, one golden necklace, one silver chain wristwatch, one lighting chandelier, one set of Sony home theatre system, one 42-inch Sony LED TV, one double plates electric cooker, one HP LG outdoor unit air conditioner, two silver cooking pots, one traveller's bag containing clothes, one black Canon bag, a pair of leather slippers, various electric chargers and adapters.


In another case, the command arrested one Miss Christiana Uwem Ibanga and her accomplice boyfriend, Inyene Etuk Akpan, both alleged of child trafficking. 


"On 15th June 2024, a woman (name withheld) of Afaha Atai Village in Ibesikpo Asutan LGA reported that one Christiana Uwem Ibanga, a female resident of Ekamba Nsukara Village in Uyo LGA, lured her six-year-old daughter (name withheld) and took her to an unknown destination." 


The command, acting promptly on credible intelligence, immediately sprang into action and arrested one Christiana Uwem Ibanga and her accomplice, who is her boyfriend, named Inyene Etuk Akpan, on 14th January 2025 in Abuja.


During interrogation, the suspects admitted to selling their own child in May 2024 for ₦450,000 with the assistance of one Saviour Aniedi, 'm'. Christiana further confessed to conspiring with Saviour Aniedi and his wife to steal the complainant's child, who was later sold in Aba, Abia State, to an unidentified buyer. 


On 23rd January 2025, investigators extended their operations to Aba in pursuit of the buyer and the child. Whilst the suspects in Aba remain elusive, the Command assures the public that substantial progress has been made. "Our operatives are narrowing in on the perpetrators and their apprehension is imminent," DSP John added.
