IKOT AMBON IBESIKPO GETS NEW COUNCIL, SOLICITS PARTNERSHIP FOR HIGH SCHOOL

Ikot Ambon Ibesikpo in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area has inaugurated a new village council, marking a significant milestone for the community.
The Village Head, Eteidung Nicholas Etim Akpan, seized the opportunity to appeal for a partnership with the state government to establish a functional public High School in northern Ibesikpo, which will serve around 25 villages.
Without waiting for government to do everything, the community has already demonstrated its commitment to education by setting aside vast portion of land for the High School project, provide tables and chairs for the teachers, bought books and uniforms for the pupils.
They have also embarked on perimeter fencing to secure the school premises.
The newly formed village council consists of eight members, with Mr. Saviour Edet Etim as chairman, Mr. Aniekfiok Edet Etim as vice chairman, and Mr. Kingsley Udofia as Secretary. Additionally, 16 committee members were selected to serve as village councilors and special advisers, covering various aspects such as ethics, market, electricity, youth, and projects.
Eteidung Nicholas Etim Akpan was optimistic about the future, expressed gratitude to the state government for commencing work on the long-abandoned Ikot Ambon-Nung Atte Road connecting Shelter Afrique.
He also expressed desire that more life touching projects to come to Ikot Ambon and the adjoining communities, including a health center and the reactivation of the water project.
At Ikot Ambon Village Hall where the inauguration held recently, the Village Council comprises eight members, with Mr. Saviour Edet Etim as chairman, Mr. Aniekfiok Edet Etim, vice chairman and Mr. Kingsley Udofia as Secretary.
Additionally, 16 committee members were selected to serve as village councilors and special advisers.
Ethics and Discipline Committee: Chaired by Elder Simeon Jerome Eyo, Akparawa Anietie Inyang as vice chairman, Barr. Uwem Jerome as Secretary and Chief (Dr) Edem Etim Ikpong to serve as adviser, with four other members.
The Market Committee Chairman is Mr. Sylvester Michael William, with Victor Jude Effiong as secretary and three other members
Electricity Committee is to be Chaired by Ene Etim William, with Paulinus Effiong Bassey as secretary and other members.
The Youth Executive Council Comprises 10 members, with Nsima Okon Ebak as president and Ofonime Edem Etim- vice president and Owoidoho Bassey Ituen as Secretary.
While Mr Kingsley Udofia and Apostle James Effiong are Chairman and Vice in the School Based Management Committee, the Project Committee is headed by Mr Anietie Inyang and Mr Ekan Celestine as Secretary.
The committee members were charged to be truthful and effective in the discharge of their duties without fear or favour to nip in the buds cultism among the youths, armed robbery and vandalisation of critical infrastructure, in liaison with security agencies to make Ikot Ambon safe for all.
Also speaking, the chairman of the village council, Mr. Saviour Edet Etim, the woman leader, Deaconess Enobong Godwin Ekong and Obong Emmanuel Jerome Eyo, both expressed gratitude to God for the village head's leadership and appealed to other cabinet members to work towards the growth of Ikot Ambon.
The newly inducted committees were sworn in by a team of legal luminaries, Barrs; Michael Anthony Okon (Legal Adviser), Denise Adiaka and Bassey Essien. The committees are to resume duty immediately.
