The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has made history with the passing out of 1,511 retrained female police officers, following a three month rigorous training programme, created to enhance their skills and expertise.

This epoch making ceremony is evidence of the command's efforts to strengthen its workforce and ensure security across the state, while also promoting gender inclusiveness within the Police Force.

The training being far from routine exercise  is a confirmation of the command's commitment and preparedness to building a more complex  and effective Police Force, capable of meeting the evolving security needs of the states thereby making the society livable and crime free.

Speaking at the passing out ceremony, the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, expressed his excitement over the successful completion of the re-training, maintaining it is a  way to strengthen the security structure of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria at large.

He put it clear that the training is not just a routine exercise, but a purposeful and strategic stride that underscores the evolution of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) under the visionary leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, while noting that its officers through regular trainings will meet up with targets and as well with global policing standards.

CP Azare said "The intensive three-month training programme, held at the 26 Police Mobile Squadron, saw the officers undergo rigorous exercises, including Advanced Drill, Debussing Under Fire, Stripping and Assembling of Arms, Weapon Exercises, Tactical Formation, Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCC3), Cordon and Defense Operations, and other training skills."

The police boss mentioned that the training is not just about physical endurance, but also about mental agility, tactical precision, and strategic response to real-world security threats.

The commissioner highlighted the Inspector-General's dedication to gender inclusion within the Force, emphasising that these newly trained officers will play a critical role in ensuring energy security across the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He also paid tribute to the late CP Waheed Ayilara, who initiated the training program, and commended the former Squadron Commander of the 26 PMF, ACP Baba Mala Mohammed, for conceiving and starting the training.

Furthermore, the police commissioner restated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to collaborate with sister security agencies in the state and expressed gratitude to the press for their objective reporting and continued support.

The Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, congratulated the women police officers, tasking on professionalism and dutifulness amongst them.

The governor who was represented by his Special Adviser on Security matters, DIG Adeyemi Ogunjemilu, reiterated the need for officers to work harder in order to ensure that crime is brought to barest minimum, noting that with their full involvement, the state  will be a better place to stay.

The Governor commended the CP and his team for their commitment to keeping the state safe and promised to continue supporting the police.

Responding to concerns of the 26 Police Mobile Squadron, he assured to intervene in the nearest future and also to improve the safety and security of the police working environment.
