A'IBOM GROUP CALLS FOR INDEPENDENT PROBE INTO STATE OF BOARDING SCHOOLS By Julius Nsikak  Founder/President of Open Forum Care for Humanity Foundation, Citizen Matthew Okono The Founder/President of Open Forum Care for Humanity Foundation, Citizen Matthew Koffi Okono (MKO), has urged Governor Umo Eno to expedite the reconstitution of an independent committee to investigate the deplorable state of boarding schools in Akwa Ibom State. This call, he  made during a press conference held at the Open Forum Centre, 128 Aka Etinan Road, Uyo, on Saturday, 30 November 2024, stating that the conference is aimed to generate ideas and propose workable measures to revamp the state's education sector.   A'IBOM ASSEMBLY SEEKS URGENT RENOVATION OF DECREPIT GOV'T PRIMARY SCHOOL IN ABAK By Julius Nsikak Speaker Otong The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (AKHA) has taken a significant step towards addressing the deplorable state of the Government Primary School, Midim Waterside, in Abak Local Government Area. A Motion sponsored by the Member representing Etim Ekpo/Ika State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mfon Idung, highlighted the alarming condition of the school's infrastructure, including leaking roofs, cracked walls, broken windows, and dilapidated furniture.  Rt. Hon. Idung emphasised that these conditions not only hinder the pupils' ability to focus on their studies but also pose a serious safety risk to both pupils and staff.   GOV. ENO PROPOSES N955B BUDGET OF CONSOLIDATION AND EXPANSION FOR 2025 FISCAL YEAR  . ..As Speaker Otong pledges robust Legislative, Executive partnership The Akwa Ibom  Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has proposed a total budgetary estimates of N955 billion for the 2025 fiscal year. In his presentation before the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in Uyo, Tuesday, Governor Eno disclosed that the 2025 Budget is predicated on an oil benchmark of 75 dollars per barrel, at a production rate of 2.1 million barrels per day and an estimated exchange rate of 1400 Naira per US Dollars. This, Pastor Eno said is in line with the National Budget Benchmark projection. He also explained that the 2025 budget is made up of a Recurrent Expenditure of N300 billion and Capital Expenditure of ₦655 billion.   AKHA  COMMITTEE MEETS STAKEHOLDERS TO JUSTIFY 2024 APPROPRIATION BILL By Julius Nsikak The Akwa Ibom State House Committee on Appropriation and Finance recently convened a meeting with key stakeholders to justify the 2024 supplementary Appropriation Bill.  The gathering took place at the Assembly's conference room, State Assembly Complex in Uyo. It is worth recalling that the House, during its most recent legislative session on Thursday, 21 November 2024, received a message from the State Governor, Pastor (Dr) Umo Eno, seeking approval for the 2024 Supplementary Appropriation Bill.  The Executive Bill underwent rapid consideration and was subsequently referred to the House Committee on Appropriation and Finance for further scrutiny prior to passage. Champions ARISE Agenda for Quality Education By Julius Nsikak In a significant push to enhance educational standards and support the ARISE Agenda of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor (Dr) Umo Eno, the Heal the Globe Corporation has extended educational support to public primary school pupils in Ikono Local Government Area. Led by the team leader, Mr. Rustom Alexander, the Isaac James Child Creativity Revolution initiative visited three public primary schools in the region, providing essential educational materials and boosting morale. AKHA RECEIVES 2024 SUPPLEMENTARY BUDGET FROM GOV. ENO By Julius Nsikak Speaker, Rt. Hon Otong The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (AKHA) has formally received the 2024 Supplementary Budget from Governor Umo Eno.  The proposed Revised Budget boasts an impressive augmented figure of N73,491,516,890, in addition to the initial approved sum of N849,970,759,990, bringing the total to N923,462,276,880. The Executive Bill was formally read by the Clerk of the House, Mrs NsikakAbasi Orok, and received on the floor of the House during legislative session recently.  This followed a Motion by the Member representing Ini State Constituency, Hon (Dcn) Lawrence Udoide , and seconded by his Nsit Ibom counterpart, Hon Eric Akpan.
